Successfully established in Year 1; enabled effective coordination and smooth implementation throughout the project

Capacity Building

Training programs conducted for Customs Officers, Regulatory Authorities, MDAs, LGAs, Police Environment Units, Judicial Officers, Public Prosecutors, Environmental Inspectors, and media; 439 government officers trained in environmental management tools, mountain ecosystem framework, and transboundary compliance

Implemented from Year 3 onwards; significantly strengthened national capacity for environmental governance, enforcement, and compliance

Technical Outputs & Operational Enhancement

Development and testing of Online Public Environmental Legal Database and National Waste Management Database; Kawetere Mountain Ecosystem Assessment and Draft Environmental Management Plan; procurement of mobile environmental laboratory and field-testing kits

Outputs completed and operational; enhanced NEMC’s field monitoring, enforcement capacity, and application of ecosystem management frameworks
